The purpose of this article is to help reduce uncertainties in the field of re-engineering process. Through this important review of the literature published between 1980 and 1998 will occur. Articles published in journals and books related celebrity in this analysis were used. This paper first discusses the needs of process reengineering and the literature related to re-engineering, re-engineering tools and techniques, coexistence total quality management (TQM) and reengineering processes, identify and understand organizational processes, challenges reengineering and redesigning organizations using the re-engineering exercise. The results show that there is considerable confusion in the reengineering process. The authors define different emphases on process reengineering and many have promised outcomes. At the conclusion of this paper is to provide some suggestions regarding future research process reengineering
